Your profile – the WHO, the WHAT and the WHY |
I joined the Chemical and Materials Engineering Department, University of Alberta as a Postdoctoral Fellow in January, 2011. I completed my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) in 2010 and have expertise in the area of synthesis and characterization of novel materials and Nano-fabrication. Before joining University of Alberta, I worked as a Research Scientist in the Centre of Excellence in Nanoelectronics (CEN) at IITB. I received the prestigious TSMC Outstanding Student Research Award in 2008 in the field of Physics, Chemistry of Materials for Nano-Scale Devices This award is sponsored by the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) which is the world's largest semiconductor foundry. I was also a recipient of the 2009 Young Researcher Award, sponsored by Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences, Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. My current research focuses on the development of new materials and interfaces for energy applications and also includes micro/nanofabrication of sensors and devices and characterization. The ultimate impact of such devices is not only to generate energy from the environment or other surroundings, but also are expected to offer capabilities in actuation, biomedical sensing, microwave circuits, multiple memory elements etc. |
