Following the Canvas preparation and the drawing, I blocked in a variegated green and yellow colours for the background.

Subsequently, once dry, I laid down a wash of transparent blue to add depth also painted in the stem.

After a wash of transparent blue into the background.

I then made a small swatch of colours that I would use as shadows on the flower.
