Artists Bio:

Mohamed was born in East Africa. He migrated to Canada in 1977. As a physician (Radiologist) he dealt with images which represent the three dimensional bodily structures in two dimensions. Seeing a parallel of this phenomenon in fine art, led him to study art and he has now been painting for almost twenty years. If you are curious about his artistic journey, CLICK HERE

Mohamed’s work can be best described as representational. His subject is mainly landscape, although he does paint florals and still life as well. He prefers to paint certain subjects in specific media. Having worked in the studio for several years, he now prefers the challenges of en plein air (outdoor) painting.

Mohamed’s awards include:

The Mildred Nelson scholarship (2013), the Card Alling scholarship (2018) both awarded by the Edmonton Art Club as well as the en- plein air scholarship (2019) awarded by the prestigious Scottsdale Artists' School (Arizona- USA)

Artists Statement:

In my paintings, I strive to transport the viewer into the scene so they experience the scent of my florals, hear the rustling of the leaves in my landscapes, feel the chill in my snowscapes and hear the crashing of the waves in my seascapes. My process is similar to my previous paintings, yes, but never the same.
