The 1932 Ford Model A

Jan 21, 2019

Photograph Of 1932 Ford Model A

Yes! I agree this car was manufactured way before we were born, but I am confident some if not most of us have witnessed its imposing presence either on the road or in the museums.

I took several photographs of the car and decided on this view to complement the other 2 paintings. All these three paintings were going to be hanging together as a Triptych. Since this was such a unique car, I decided it should be the star of the 3 paintings and therefore needed more attention. This would then be the centre piece and to break the monotony the canvas size needed to be a little larger. Since the other two canvas sizes were 16"X20" I decided this was to be 18"X24" Gallery Canvas. As the three paintings were going to be hung together, The palette and the background had to be cohesive.

Started with the sky on a toned canvas.

The Sky

Next came the mountains. Incidentally you can see my setup on my easel. I have the image all planned out on an iPad, just above the painting as I paint.

Next came the intricate details and the background ledge.

Now I carefully matched and painted the local colour of the gorgeous Ford

Wow! Almost done.

The Final Leg.

It's done, all varnished, signed, framed and ready to roll off the assembly line. Henry Ford would have been proud!!

It's Done.

This is how the set (Triptych) is going to hang.

This segment concludes my blogs on painting antique cars.

Where Is Waldo? I did receive some replies to my last blog question regarding where I had indicated the year and the make of the car? One individual got it correct on the Parisienne. Granted it is rather difficult to read on the small sized images. For those of you who are inquisitive, here are the answers.

1951 Chevy

1966 Parisienne
