Shapes - From Boring To Interesting- Part 2

Aug 18, 2018

On the last blog we saw how a boring square shape can be made more interesting. This time we will tackle another boring shape the triangle. The worst of these would be if all the three sides of the triangle are same in length (Equilateral triangle)

Triangular shapes are abundantly found in nature as in mountain peaks, evergreen trees, roofs of buildings, boats, sails etc. As luck would have it, most of these only have two sides which are similar in length (Isosceles triangles)

Now let use some strategies to make some boring triangular shapes interesting;

Boring mountain peak:  All one has to do is change its shape a little by adding an adjacent peak.

Minor alteration to produce a more interesting shape.

A Sailboat with a triangular sail: A useful method is to crop part of the triangle. It still conveys the message of a sail boat. This is illustrated in the watercolour painting below called the Breeze

An Ugly triangular tree like this

May be transformed into a better looking tree by elongating it.

Its shape can also be made more pleasing by making the sides asymmetric.

Or one can simply add a few more trees and group them together in a more acceptable shape.
