Dr. Bahler is a family physician in Sylvan Lake, Alberta. He has been involved in provincial work around quality improvement, education, and access working with the Alberta Medical Association and the Alberta College of Family Physicians.
He works on multiple initiatives designed to improve the way the system can support the citizens of Alberta. He has also worked closely with primary care teams, specialty programs and Primary Care Networks around issues of redesign and improvement across the province. His belief is that measurement, relevant data, physician engagement, integration and practice facilitation are vehicles to achieve the goal of a Patient's Medical Home for all Albertans.
Dr. Charlie Chen is a palliative care consultant working in Calgary, AB. Prior to moving to Alberta in the summer of 2019, he had been UBC Program Director for both the Family Medicine Enhanced Skills Year of Added Competency and the Subspecialty in Adult Palliative Medicine. He also had a brief tenure as the Medical Director for palliative care services in Fraser Health, BC. Dr. Chen has a Master of Education degree and is passionate about medical education and advance care planning. He is a Director-at-Large of the Board of the Canadian Society of Palliative Care and a Scientific Consultant with Pallium Canada.
Gian is a Teaching Professor in the School of Public health at the University of Alberta and an applied biostatistician. He collaborates with many clinical researchers and applies innovative biostatistical techniques to understand, investigate and evaluate public health-related questions and disease etiology. He has been involved in different research projects across many of the health sciences disciplines and his experiences makes him uniquely multi- and inter-disciplinary.
Nancy Verdin is a retired occupational therapist and now directs her energy to partnering with nephrology researchers, health care professionals and organizations to improve the Quality of Life for dialysis patients and their families. Nancy completed her Patient and Community Engagement Research (PaCER) training in 2019, graduating from the University of Calgary. PaCER graduates are patient researchers who are trained in qualitative health research.
Dr. Ghosh works as a Research Scientist at Alberta Health Services- CancerCare and is an Assistant Clinical Professor position at the Department of Oncology, University of Alberta. She has a PhD in Biostatistics and Master’s in Mathematics. Her program of research focuses on the statistical methodology related to cancer, palliative care, and patients with multiple chronic conditions. She has a particular interest in methodologies in the area of survival analysis, longitudinal data analysis, and predictive and prognostication models.
