The unit on trigonometry was taught after students had learned how to solve Equations. The activities in these projects took about three full classes; the full unit took about a eight classes (including time for assessment). I found that during the unit I did less repetitive teaching and that the students as a whole were more active and engaged than in pervious years. I believe that by providing the students with experiences related to material being taught (triangles, ratios, angles) they were able to better solidify old understandings and assimilate the new knowledge.
