I used this exercise as an introduction to trigonometry. I wanted to get the students to start to create their own triangles given very specific conditions; “EXACTLY the same shape but different sizes”. As my students began the activity some quickly determined what needed to be done others had some difficulty. This allowed me to quickly identify those students and discuss with them what it meant to be EXACTLY the same shape.
