Information for postdoctoral researchers

PIMS Postdoctoral Fellowships: Every year, the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS) offers several postdoctoral fellowships to young mathematicians. These are valid for two years, but they should be supplemented by salary from teaching duties (one or two courses per year) and a research stipend from the supervisor's research grant. To apply, you should first contact me and ask if I would agree to supervise you and then you should apply via MathJobs.org.
Killam Postdoctoral Fellowships: The University of Alberta has a few postdoctoral fellowships funded by the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Fund for Advanced Studies. The current value of these is $46,000 per year and there are no teaching duties! A small research grant of $4,000 is also provided.
Max Wyman Assistant Professorships: These are non-tenure track appointments at the postdoctoral level which provide very good working conditions and a teaching load of two courses per year. Open positions are posted on the website of the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, the website of the Canadian Mathematical Society and MathJobs. If there is an opening in pure mathematics and you are an algebraist who would be interested in joining our department, do not hesitate to contact me.
