    GUIDE TO SOLIDWORKS

An introduction to the tutorials and the SOLIDWORKS interface.
Refer to this reguarly to review the different aspects of the software.

    Time: 15 Minutes

    PARTS

Solid modeling in SOLIDWORKS requires some based understanding of how the software can achieve this.
This tutorial walks through the creation of your first simple part and their features.

Do this tutorial to build your first part.

    Time: 30 Minutes

    DRAWINGS

This tutorial creations a proper engineering drawings from the made solid model part.

Do this tutorial to build your first drawing.

    Time: 45 Minutes

    ASSEMBLIES

This tutorial introduces how to make assemblies and an appropreate drawing of the assembly.

Do this tutorial to build your first assembly.

    Time: 60 Minutes

    REVOLVES

Parts can be built in different coordenate systems.
This tutorial walks through the concepts and uses of revolved features.

    Time: 45 Minutes

    LASER CUTTER

When designing parts, the manufacturing process to be used needs to be taken into consideration.
This tutorial explains how to use the Mec E shop's laser cutter to make a 3D object from flat material stock.

    Time: 15 Minutes

    DESIGN TABLES

Features of a solid model can be driven by equations.
This tutorial explains how to use a design table in EXCEL to control feature sizes and generate multiple configurations of the same base geometry.
    Time: 30 Minutes

    SHEET METAL

SOLIDWORKS has sepecific toolboxes that have been developed to allow the design of complex shapes using a specific manufacturing approach.
This tutorial explains how to use create parts using the Sheet Metal tools.
    Time: 45 Minutes

    3D PRINTING

Additive manufacturing (3D printing) is a new manufacturing techinque that allows many manufacturing constraintes to be removed.
This tutorial walks through how to create parts for 3D printing.

    Time: 45 Minutes

    TOLERANCING

Solid models are built in the virtual world where all dimenisons are mathmatically perfect.
This tutorial explains the concepts and uses of tolerancing to allow components to be manufacture to achieve a function.

    Time: 30 Minutes

    ANIMATION

Once a solid model is built, it can be used for many different engineering processes.
As and introduction, this tutorial shows how to perform a motion study and animate assemblies.

    Time: 60 Minutes

    REVIEW

A lot of concepts are covered in MecE 265.
This tutorial acts as a review with a focus on engineering drawings.
