The Department of Physics at the University of Alberta invites applications to fill a postdoctoral position in condensed matter theory, with a starting date in the Fall of 2021. The successful applicant will work in collaboration with Prof. Joseph Maciejko and Prof. Igor Boettcher. The position is a full-time 1-year appointment, renewable for up to 2 more years (maximum total of 3 years) subject to performance and mutual agreement. The salary for the position is $50,000 CAD per year plus supplemental health benefits. Research topics include topological phases of matter, strongly correlated electrons, and quantum criticality.
The applicant must have a Ph.D. in theoretical condensed matter physics obtained within the last five (5) years, a strong background in quantum many-body physics, and previous research experience in theoretical condensed matter physics (analytical and/or computational).
Prospective candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, publication list, and brief description of research interests through AcademicJobsOnline. Applicants should also arrange for three (3) letters of reference to be submitted by the letter writers through AcademicJobsOnline.
