Holi 2017 - Festival of Colors

Holi is a spring festival, also known as the festival of colors or the festival of love. It is an ancient Hindu religious festival which has become popular with non-Hindus worldwide. Like every year, INDSA will be hosting Holi at Emily Murphy Park, on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 12 PM to 4 PM. A ticketed event, with dyes (organic), food, Music (DJ) and the warm spring weather, will surely get you in the colorful mood. Come join us for a few hours in celebration of this rangila festival.

Jhankaar 2017, INDSA's biggest event of the year, is a multi-cultural night that showcases the beauty and diversity of India. Featuring classical dance and music alongside Bollywood moves and beats, Jhankaar explores India's vast cultural geography and rich cultural history. In past years, Jhankaar has also showcased other cultural traditions, hosting performers from Nigeria, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Ireland and Ukraine etc., and the tradition continues again this year. INDSA presents Diwali 2016, India's biggest and most celebrated festival. Diwali is the one of most important holidays of the year for all Indians. We'll celebrate the festival of lights on 29th October at Dinwoodie Lounge, Students' Union Building, UofA with scintillating performances and cultural programs. Come spend an evening of festivities with friends, family and INDSA.

INDSA and ATB Financial present its annual Freshers' Welcome Night - Parichay, a gathering for new and old faces to meet and mingle. Mr. and Ms. Fresher activity along with games (with prizes) will serve as introductions, while singing, dancing and other performances entertain all of us.
Come celebrate the Indo-Canadian culture, while you dine on some of the finest Indian cuisines. The night will end with a Bollywood DJ Night at Squires.

Purna Swaraj - Independence Day Celebration

We'll celebrate India's Independence Day this year on 15th August from 5.30 PM at Dinwoodie Lounge, SUB. Join in the celebration of Independence, not only the India's one but the whole sub-continent's. Get to know about the cultural history and background of the Independence. We'll also have lovely dancing and singing performances. We'll have light snacks during the event for the audience. INDSA offers this complimentary event as a tribute to our country. INDSA and ATB have planned a trip to Jasper on 2nd July for this summer. For those who don't know, Jasper is an alpine town in western Alberta and famous for its scenic beauty. You can know more about Jasper here.



This is a wonderful opportunity to catch up with the Indian Student Community in Edmonton and also students from other countries. However, this trip is not restricted to just students. Anyone is welcome! We will be providing breakfast and evening snacks during the trip. Here's our full itinerary:

Pyramid & Patricia Lake - 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM (Sightseeing)
