INDSA presents 2015's last event Diwali, India's biggest and most celebrated festival. Diwali is the one of most important holidays of the year for all Indians. We'll celebrate the festival of lights on November 7th at Dinwoodie Lounge, Students' Union Building, UofA with scintillating performances and cultural programs. Come spend an evening of festivities with friends, family and INDSA.

We have arranged a full-fledged evening for you in this Diwali. The program will begin, and the stage will be full of life, with various cultural performances. Our artists are hardworking and dedicated, so you are sure to be entertained and enthralled with some of the best showcases of talent.
Continuing with some of INDSA's tradition, we will host a fashion show, which will end with the ramp open to our guests. Try your best catwalk. Show us your jalwa.
After dinner and desserts, we will end the night with a dance floor. Bring your best moves & dance off to some amazing desi beats played by our DJ.

ATB Cricket Cup

Match Schedule

INDSA presents ATB Cricket Cup, a cricket tournament on the campus of UofA. We are bringing back the glory, but in a bigger way that happened never before. It's a 8-team tournament which starts from 9 AM sharp on October 25th. We'll release the detailed schedule once we have all the registrations.
There are two types of registrations available. We only accept online registrations and online payments.
  1. Individual Registration (If you don't have a team, we'll make one for you.): Entry Fee: $10 for Members | $15 for Non-members - Click here for Individual Registration.
  2. Team Registration: $50 - Click here for Team Registration.
Rules*:
  • Only 6 players (any) could play a match at a time, from the 7 player team list. The extra player could only field as a substitution for a player in the match.
  • There's no restriction on the number of girls/boys/others in a team.
  • Each innings would consists of 8 overs and each bowler could bowl a maximum of 2 overs. Only one bowler can bowl 3 overs maximum.
  • Any ball that hits the curtain behind the wicket is a score of 2 runs.
  • On the off and leg side if the ball hits the curtain directly, it will be a score of 4 runs otherwise 2.
  • Straight boundaries (separated from leg and off boundaries by a cone) will follow normal rules of cricket ( direct 6 otherwise 4).
  • Umpires will be chosen by the organizers.
  • The leg-umpire will be from the batting team.
  • No Leg Before Wicket (LBW).
  • Any ball that hits the roof will be declared as a a dead ball.
  • Any no ball would be free hit.
  • Maximum of 2 bouncers allowed per over.
  • Teams should be present 10 minutes before the match starts and toss will take place 5 minutes prior. Any team that is not present for the toss, will lose the toss. If the team is not present at the start of the match, walkover would be given to the other team.
  • Every team should complete their 8 overs within 25 minutes. Any team that fails to complete their overs within 2 minutes after the time limit, would be charged with a penalty. The number of balls left when the time is up, would be multiplied by 4 and added to the runs scored by the batting team.
  • Main umpire's decision is the final decision and any kind of inappropriate behaviour with the umpire could lead to individual/team disqualification.
  • In case of any discrepencies, organizers and the main umpire's decisions will be deemed as the final call.
  • The batsman would be given not out if the fielder touches the curtain after catching the ball.
  • Teams should bring their own bats.
  • The tournament would follow the 8 team double elimination method and the Match Schedule would be sent to the teams once all the teams are registered prior to the tournament.
  • The winning team would be given the ATB cup at INDSA's Diwali event in Dinwoodie Lounge ( U of A) (November 7, 2015). The winning team captain will be invited to the event.

INDSA and ATB Financial present its annual Freshers' Welcome Night - Parichay, a gathering for new and old faces to meet and mingle. Games (with prizes) and ice-breakers will serve as introductions, while singing, dancing and other performances entertain all of us.
Come celebrate the Indo-Canadian culture, while you dine on some of the finest Indian cuisines. As always, the night will end with an epic Dance Floor where the DJ will play the best party songs.

We'll celebrate India's Independence Day this year on 14th August from 6.30 PM at SUB-Stage. Join in the celebration of Independence, not only the India's one but the whole sub-continent's. Get to know about the cultural history and background of the Independence. We'll also have lovely dancing and singing performances. We'll have light snacks during the event for the audience. INDSA offers this complimentary event as a tribute to our country. Hence, entry is free for all. We sincerely expect your gracious presence. See you!

  1. We have closed registration for the trip. Thank you for your overwhelming response.
  2. Please look at the Waiver Sheet, provided by Students' Union of University of Alberta. Everyone has to agree and sign this document to be a part of this trip. We'll provide the printed copies of this document at the starting time of the trip. You have to sign then and return us.
INDSA and ATB have planned a trip to Jasper on 27th June for this summer. For those who don't know, Jasper is an alpine town in western Alberta and famous for its scenic beauty. You can know more about Jasper here.



This is a wonderful opportunity to catch up with the Indian Student Community in Edmonton and also students from other countries. However, this trip is not restricted to just students. Anyone is welcome! We will be providing breakfast and evening snacks during the trip. Here's our full itinerary:

Pyramid & Patricia Lake - 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM (Sightseeing)

Lake Beauvert - 3:45 PM to 4:30 PM (Sightseeing)
Athabasca Falls - 5:15 PM to 7 PM (Sightseeing & Hike)
