Swan Lake is a famous romantic ballet composition from the famous era of Russian ballet pre-eminence in the second half of the 19th century. Peter Chaikovsky was the descendant of Ukrainian cossacks. This performance was choreographed by Ukrainian Victor Litvinov and performed by locally trained principle dancers Tetiana Borovyk and Victor Yaremenko of the Ukrainian national ballet company in Ukraine’s main opera theatre. It was indeed a very Ukrainian dance performance. Ballet has a long, strong and proud tradition in Ukraine for several hundred years.
