The dance Iz syrom pyrohy [Cheese dumplings] is inspired by a popular folk song of the same name. In this choreography, one of the dancers is costumed as a giant perih (perogy, dumpling), while the two others are a knife and a fork. Fortunately for the dumpling, the cutlery has friendly intentions!
This choreography is a fine example of a humorous and creative novelty, connected with one particular element of Ukrainian culture and strongly ethnically symbolic, but not based on any traditional village dance at all.
