Student Digital Collaboration Studio

The Student Digital Studio (SDS) located In Telus Centre 131/133.

Funded by the Office of the Provost (IT), SDS is a new resource for students interested in creating digital media projects. Over time the SDCS will support collaborative learning activities that may involve teams sharing applications through sophistical collaborative software. SDS is an informal learning space where students can learn and experiment with multimedia and educational technologies in a flexible environment. The space will be able to be booked by students on a short-term basis for specific activities.

At present the studio contains the following:

Hardware:

4 IBM PCs with 500GB hard drives, video cards, monitor, DVD player and recorder, Windows XP
4 dual lens scanners - EPSON Perfection V700
4 sets of cables: video capture, audio in, audio out, firewire 400, firewire 800
1 Sony video camera HVR-A1U

Software:
  • Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection CS3 includes: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Professional, Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Contribute, After Effects, Premiere, Premiere Elements, Encore and Soundbooth.  
  • Windows Movie Maker
  • ATI Catalyst Media Center (video capture)
  • Roxio Creator 9 Platinum
  • DVD CD Burning and Player Software

Other:

  • AFS with 1 GB disk space
  • Able to print from the PAD printer (room 140)

Future Developments

 There are further plans to include:
