The Long Coated GSD Puppy   When evaluating a litter of puppies, many people have difficulty separating the "plush" coated puppy from the long coated puppy. Here are some examples of long coated puppies at 8 weeks of age. These are two long coated puppies from the same litter. At the time of evaluation the one on the left (Etikett/Rosalee) was definitely a long coat, while the one on the right (Ekstase/Tassie) was considered a "maybe." Note the amount of hair on the front legs and the general fluffiness of the face compared to their litter brother below.
