Additional trapping and manipulation tools

The techniques described above are only some of the many tools available for manipulating the internal and external degrees of freedom in an ultracold atoms system.  The so-called “atomic physics” toolbox is full of opportunites for custom-designing the interactions and environment experienced by the atoms, and for measuring their complete state during and at the end of an experiment.  A few of these tools are illustrated below.
