Research I Publications I Work Experience

Dr. Gonzalo Zambrano is involved in a project related to carbon dioxide (CO2) capture, transport and storage, focusing on downhole monitoring technology applications. The University of Alberta, in partnership with Canadian and International Organizations, has been studying the geological storage of CO2, including the operational, verification, and environmental monitoring.

One of the main research area of Dr. Zambrano’s focuses on the design and deployment of monitoring technology for CO2 storage projects. Dr. Zambrano is working closely on two projects that relate directly to geomechanical issues associated with the storage of CO2 in geological formation during CO2-EOR (Penn West CO2-EOR) and CO2 enhanced coalbed methane (EnerPlus CSEMP) field projects. Dr. Zambrano, also, has been exposed to field installations in EnCana y PetroCanada, working for INFLO solutions. Also, Dr. Zambrano also is the CEO of GZN Consulting Inc, a firm that provides consultant service in the area of Energy and Research.
