Personal I have been teaching traditional Japanese gojuryu karate to children and adults since 1981. I keep abreast of current research in sport science, and seek safe ways to apply that knowledge to the traditions of karate training. I believe that karate must be taught with recognition of both its cultural heritage, and its expectations for ethical behaviour, not just as a sport or a form of fighting.

Karate is not about physical strength, neither is it solely about mental sharpness. To reach their greatest potential, karateka must develop both mental and physical strength in equal measure.
