Metelytsia is a traditional village dance in Ukraine and other cultures. The words of the song are connected often with a winter theme. Vasile Avramenko choreographed a dance with this name, the added “viucha” adjective means “winding around.” In this performance, it served to bring several hundred dancers onto the stage, and focused primarily on monumentality and formations. Only one dance step, pokhid skladnyi, was performed for the duration of the dance.
