There are two stories about how Honi died. One version was written by a man named Josephus. Josephus was a Jewish historian of the first century of the Christian Era from Judea. He became Roman after the destruction of the Temple and wrote a history of the Jews around 200 years after Honi died.
The other version is an Aggadah - a personal story which may or may not have actually happened. Its main purpose is to teach a moral or an ideal. This Aggadah is related to Tu-Bishvat.
