Dr. Xihua Wang
Dr. Xihua Wang is an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta and a registered professional engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta, Canada. He received the BSc degree in Physics from Peking (Beijing) University in 2003, and the Master and PhD degrees in Physics from Boston University in 2005 and 2009, respectively. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto from 2009 to 2012. He joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta as an Assistant Professor in July 2012. He received tenure and was promoted to Associate Professor in July 2018.
Nan Sun
Nan Sun is a visiting PhD student from Northeast Forestry University, China. She joined the group from November 2023.
Jiangwen Zhang
Jiangwen received her BSc degree in Electronic Science and Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China (2019). Then she finished MSc study
in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta in July 2022. She joins the group as a PhD student, and works
on colloidal quantum dot optoelectronics.
Zihan Wang
Zihan received her BSc degree Electrical Engineering from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta in 2022.
She joins the group as a MSc student, and is currently working on modelling of nanoscale electronic devices.
Yuqi Wu
Yuqi Wu a PhD student at the University of Alberta from 2022. He is currently co-supervised by Prof. Jie Chen and
Prof. Xihua Wang and works on machine learning for biomedical applications.
Tianxiang Jiang
Tianxiang is a PhD student at the University of Alberta from 2021. He is currently co-supervised by Prof. Jie Chen and
Prof. Xihua Wang and works on micro-/nanodevices for biosensing.
Bingxuan Li
Bingxuan is a PhD student at the University of Alberta from 2021. He is currently co-supervised by Prof. Jie Chen and
Prof. Xihua Wang and works on nanostructured devices for biosensing.
Zuyuan Tian
Zuyuan is a PhD student at the University of Alberta from 2020. He is currently co-supervised by Prof. Jie Chen and
Prof. Xihua Wang and works on nanodevices for biosensing.
Yiwei Feng
Yiwei is a PhD student at the University of Alberta from 2020. He is currently co-supervised by Prof. Jie Chen and
Prof. Xihua Wang and works on micro-/nanosystems for bionanotechnology.

Aadithya Ganapathy Shankar: Aadithya was a visiting undergraduate student from Indian Institute of Technology Madras. He received the
Mitacs Globalink Research Internship and did her research works in the group in Summer 2023.
Ian Then: Ian was a MSc student in the group. He successfully defended his MSc
thesis entitled "GGNMOS for electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection: study on device structure and circuit model" in May 2023.
Dr. Qiwei Xu: Qiwei joined the group as a Master student from January 2017, and transferred to PhD program. He successfully defended his PhD
thesis entitled "Colloidal quantum dots and integration with silicon for near-infrared light detection" in April 2023.
Gangyi Li: Ian was a MSc student in the group, co-supervised by Prof. Xihua Wang and Prof. Hao Liang. He successfully defended his MSc
thesis entitled "Nanocrystal-based optical diffusers for white LED lighting: inverse design achieved
by machine learning technologies" in January 2023.
Xinghao Tong: Xinghao was a visiting undergraduate student from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. He received the
Mitacs Globalink Research Internship and did her research works in the group in Summer 2022.
Jing Wang: Jing was a visiting undergraduate student from Sun Yat-sen University, China. She received the
Mitacs Globalink Research Internship and did her research works in the group in Summer 2021.
Dr. Farsad Chowdhury: Farsad joined the group as a PhD student from September 2016. He successfully defended his PhD
thesis entitled "Wood-derived biopolymers for photonics" in May 2021.
Dr. Lingju Meng: Lingju joined the group as a Master student from September 2013, and transferred to PhD program. He successfully defended his PhD
thesis entitled "Flexible electronics: novel substrates and transducers" in November 2019.
Carson Dick: Carson did his MSc study in the group from January 2018 to August 2020. The title of his dissertation
is "Microstructure-based direct digital capacitive pressure sensor". He was co-supervised by Prof. Xihua Wang and Prof. Masum Hossain.
Kaustubh Sinha: Kaustubh did his MSc study in the group from September 2018 to April 2020. The title of his dissertation
is "Laser induced graphene on lignin upgraded stretchable polymer films".
Dr. Tao Zeng: Dr. Zeng is an associate professor at Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, China. He received the financial
support from China Scholarship Council (CSC), and worked in the group as a visiting scholar from 2017-2018.
Yihan Jin: Yihan was a visiting undergraduate student from Beijing Institute of Technology, China. She received the
Mitacs Globalink Research Internship and did her research works in the group in Summer 2018.
Dr. Wei Zheng: Wei received her PhD degree from the University of Alberta (2016) and was a postdoc in
the group from January 2017 to June 2018. She was co-supervised by Prof. Thomas Thundat and Prof. Xihua Wang.
Shulan Xiao: Shulan was a visiting undergraduate student from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China.
He received the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship and did her research works in the group in Summer 2017.
Dr. Seyed Milad Mahpeykar: Milad did his PhD study in the group from January 2014 to August 2017. The title of his
dissertation is "Hierarchical nanostructures for light management in thin-film optoelectronic devices".
Shicheng Fan: Shicheng did his MSc study in the group from September 2015 to August 2017. The title of his dissertation
is "Microsturctured flexible sensors for wearable technologies".
Liang Cai: Liang is an undergraduate student, majoring in Electrical Engineering at the University of Alberta.

Dr. Xinmei Liu: Dr. Liu is a Professor at Guangxi University of Science and Technology, China. She received the
financial support from Guangxi Scholarship Fund, and worked in the group as a visiting scholar from 2016-2017.
