Wayne Hiebert
Wayne Hiebert.  Associate Research Officer and Principle Investigator, NINT
Adjunct Professor, Department of Physics, University of Alberta

I received my Ph.D. from UAlberta Physics in the field of magnetization dynamics (2001).  I continued with similar research at IMEC in Belgium (2001-2003) before entering the field of nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS) at Caltech (2003-2006) and continuing in it upon returning to NINT in Edmonton.  Our present efforts concentrate on exploring the potential of nanophotonic NEMS.
Vince Sauer
Vince Sauer.  (2007 - ) Ph.D. Student, NSERC CGS Scholarship holder, NINT
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, UAlberta

I received my undergraduate degree in Engineering Physics at the University of Alberta.  Upon graduating,  I worked at NINT as a technical officer for a year before entering graduate school.  I am currently working on my Ph.D. in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in conjunction with Dr. Ying Tsui (ECE) and Dr. Mark Freeman (Physics), and I am looking at ways to create NEMS mass sensors utilizing nanophotonics to study laser ablation techniques.
Meng Kan
Meng (Richard) Kan.  (2008 - ) Ph.D. Student, NINT
                                      Department of Physics, UAlberta

I received my undergraduate degree in Semiconductor Physics and Device at Xidian University. After graduating, I worked at Microelectronics Research Institute as an Electronics Engineer for eight years and at NINT as a technical officer for one and a half years. In 2007, I came back to University studies and received my M. Sc.degree in 2010 from University of Alberta. Currently, I am working on my Ph. D. in the Physics Department of UAlberta in conjunction with Dr. Mark Freeman, and I am using techniques with electron tunneling sensors to detect the motion of NEMS.

Jocelyn Westwood.  (2013 - ) Ph.D. Student, Vanier Scholarship holder, NINT
                                       Department of Physics, UAlberta

Jocelyn helped obtain our first nanophotonic nanomechanical data in a test device during her senior undergrad project in 2011. She has returned to the group to work on NOMS devices.

Swapan Roy.  (2013 - ) Ph.D. Student, NINT
                                       Department of Physics, UAlberta

Swapan joined our group in October 2013, having finished his Ph.D. coursework. He has some exciting results showing that, when dynamic range can be maximized, mechanical Q-factor does not matter to mass sensitivity. The result has implications for mass sensors in fluid. Swapan is also working on our GC-NEMS project.
