Meet The Executives!

The UPSA is run by our dynamic executive team that works to support students in the Physiology Program.
Interested in joining us? Apply as a Year Representative in the Fall or an Executive in the Spring!

My name is Haley and I’m in my fourth year of Physiology. I’m excited to be spending my final year of the program as Co-President of the UPSA! In our roles as Co-Presidents, Devon and I ensure that the UPSA consistently delivers programming that is useful, educational, and fun for Physiology students. Additionally, we serve as liaisons between undergraduate physiology students and the Department of Physiology. In my free time I enjoy crocheting, walking my dog, and finding new books to read. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about the UPSA or physiology program, we are here to help!

Hi everyone! I’m Devon and I am a fourth-year student in honours physiology and this year Haley and I will serve as your Co-Presidents of the UPSA. As Co-Presidents Haley and I work closely to try and deliver the best student experience possible to all of you in the honours physiology program. Some of our roles include answering your questions via email, planning events like Open House and First Year Orientation, and supporting the executive team whenever we can! When I’m not helping out with the UPSA (or in quarantine) I really enjoy playing hockey and basketball, and getting outside with my camera. Whether this is your first year, your last year, or any year in between, I hope that through UPSA programming we can make it your best year!

Hello! My name is Saloni, and I am in my fourth year of physiology. I will serve as your Co-VP Academic for the 2020-2021 school year. This coming year presents a unique situation for all incoming students, however we are dedicated to providing you with events and programs that will aid your academic growth and success throughout your degree. Some of our roles include hosting information sessions such as Summer Research Seminar and Your Future in PHYSL, as well as events such as Lab Tours. Outside of school, I enjoy baking, reading, and biking!

Hi there! My name is Megan and I am in my third year of Physiology. This year I will be your VP Social. My role includes organizing social events for physiology students to help foster a community for members of UPSA. Although this year presents a tough situation for social gatherings, I still intend to plan out great social events to help you meet new people in our program while social distancing! I am especially excited about our new Peer Mentorship Program this year. Besides being interested in physiology, I also love dance and have recently gotten into rock climbing or anything outdoors!

My name is Christy, and I am a second year Physiology student. I will be serving as the VP Finance for the 2020/2021 academic year. Most of my duties will be behind the scenes, such as securing grants from student and external organizations and managing the UPSA bank account. However, I am also involved in the financial planning of fundraisers and other events. In my free time, I enjoy practicing karate and working out on my heavy bag in the basement, but you can also find me taking long evening walks in Edmonton. I hope to help make this year our best yet and allow you to feel supported!

Hi there! I’m Shea and I’m in my fourth and final year. I am your VP Internal so I manage all the physiology gear sales. If you have ideas for swag like hoodies, keychains, hats, or sweatpants please reach out. My favourite thing about physiology is respiratory systems and I’m super excited to start my thesis project in the fall on genetic respiratory disease. In my free time I love skiing, hiking, and travelling. Fun fact about me is that I speak 3 languages and I have 2 dogs (a golden retriever and a bernese mountain dog). If you are interested in physiology merchandise design please hit me up!

My name is Ashley and I am a fourth-year student. This year, I will be the VP External where I will perform outreach to high schools and other university students to let them know about the Honours Physiology degree. I am also in charge of planning the graduation for the physiology undergraduates. In my free time, I actually enjoy reading academic articles and attending research talks. To relax, I normally just play Animal Crossing. If you are looking for more information on joining the Honours Physiology degree or have any input on how to celebrate finishing it, I will always make time to talk.

Hi everyone, my name is Claire and I’m in my third year of Physiology. I will be serving as your VP Fundraising. My job is to raise the money necessary so that the UPSA can run amazing events for you! In my spare time I love to go running and hiking, really anything outdoors! If you have any questions or suggestions let me know, I would love to be able to improve your University experience!

Hey guys! My name is Gwen and I am your VP Communications for this year! I am going into my second year in the Physiology Program. I am responsible for the UPSA's online presence in platforms such as our social media and website. I also play a role in our content creation and graphic design. I love to play badminton, watch anime and try new foods and drinks. Feel free to stay in touch with me through our social media! I'd love to help guide you through your uni journey :)
