About us

The University of Alberta Accounting Club (UAAC) has worked to the benefit of those with an interest in the accounting profession for over forty years. As one of the most active and successful student groups on campus, our club acts as a channel for the accounting industry. Our goal is to give students the opportunities needed to become well-rounded professionals and find their place in the business world. Through the Accounting Club, you will have many opportunities to attend networking events and information seminars. We also offer volunteering opportunities to help you build your skills while giving back to the local community. Anyone is welcome to join the UAAC regardless of your school, program of study or major. Please visit our office on the second floor of the School of Business for more information.

2011 Executive

President | Alex Siu (asiu@ualberta.ca)
Duties: The President of UAAC is charged with developing the strategic vision that directs club
activities through collaboration with the faculty, the student body, and other groups both
internal and external. This individual is then charged with aligning the various portfolios
to make that vision a reality.

Vice President, Academic | Dexter Dupas (dupas@ualberta.ca)
Duties: The VP Academic manages a number of programs that provide academic value to
students including the tutor program and the CA handbook.

Vice President, Communications | Claire Min (smin@ualberta.ca)
Duties: The VP Communications maintains our member list, meeting documentation and club
constitution. This VP also maintains the efficiency of the organization by managing our
project management system and any other internal communication solutions needed to
ensure successful service delivery.

Vice President, Events | Reetika Prasad (reetika@ualberta.ca)
Duties: The VP Events oversees the planning and  implementation of events ranging from our 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament to the 38th Annual CA Dinner.

Vice President, External | Michael Corey (mcorey@ualberta.ca)
Duties: The VP External works with various external organizations to develop mutually
beneficial partnerships. Salesmanship and creativity on the part of the VP External
allows the club to expand the value provided to students in a way that benefits both

Vice President, Finance | Umair Jamil (ujamil@ualberta.ca)
Duties: The VP Finance drives efficiency out of a substantial budget, oversees various internal controls and implements the issuance of various interim and year-end reports.

Vice President, Internal | Greg Prizent (prizent@ualberta.ca)
Duties: The VP Internal works with faculty and the accounting department on a number of
projects including the production and sale of accounting course packs and the recruitment of student delegates for several case competitions and conferences.

Vice President, Tax | Ershad Chagani (ershad@ualberta.ca)
Duties: The VP Tax's primary responsiblity is the planning and operation of UAAC's annual community volunteer income tax program. This program is in its 17th year of operations and completes tax returns free of charge for low income individuals.

Director, Events | YiLing Miao (yiling2@ualberta.ca)
Duties: The Director is responsible for assisting the VP Events with all the logistical functions of the various events that UAAC runs.
