Search engines are the most useful tool to anyone exploring the World Wide Web. There are numerous unique and revolutionary search engines available to search the contents of the internet. Search engines are so engrained in our cultural psyche that new words have been created because of it- when was the last time someone said to you: "Don't worry, just Google it!"
I decided to use the search engines Google, Lycos, Metacrawler, and Yahoo! to complete my bibliography. In the end, I preferred Google to the rest simply because the address is easy to type and the minimalist design of the page allows for quick loading times. My annotated bibliography includes my search results, as well as my footsteps to the sites from the search engine. The completed bibliography was finally sent to the course instructor using FTP Commander, uploaded directly to the EDIT 435 folder of "www.nethowto.org".
I think this would be an essential module for anyone who is beginning to use the internet, or for anyone wanting to do research on the the World Wide Web. Fortunately, I have done extensive searches through the net on topics ranging from Canadian history to Thai chicken recipes. One thing I did gain from this module was the knowledge to use a concise and effective way to reference sources.
