I am a professor of Russian Language, Literature and Culture in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies at the University of Alberta.

My research areas include: the history of Russian religious art (17^th and 18^th centuries); the official culture of the Russian Empire in the 18^th century; the history of the Russian Imperial calendar; the major themes and poetics of Russian odes.
