say is, you missed out.
September 24 - Denis Lamoureux
Anyone who has heard
Dr. Lamoureux speak before knows we're in for a treat. Besides his
extensive scientific and theological knowledge, he has a great deal to share
about his own experiences making sense of the modern world. Below are a
few introductory facts about Dr. Lamoureux.
Denis O. Lamoureux is an assistant professor of science and
religion at St. Joseph's College in the University of Alberta. His academic
specialty focuses on the modern origins controversy. He has debated leading
anti-evolutionists Phillip Johnson, Michael Behe and JonathanWells. He is a
co-author of Darwinism Defeated: The Johnson-Lamoureux Debate on Biological
Origins (1999). Lamoureux holds three earned doctoral degrees: dentistry,
theology and biology.
October 1 - Social Night!!!
That's right, tonight is all about having fun! Rather than
giving us a talk tonight, Colin sends the following message to all the faithful
Newmanites:
We have planned an awesome scavenger hunt that you don’t want to
miss. I have talked with the weather people and they tell me it should be a
beautiful night to be outdoors, so we will be! We will meet in the same room
(Kiva, Ed North 2-103) at the same time (7:00pm). Be sure to wear appropriate
outdoor clothes and shoes. There will be prizes and they won’t just be hugs!
October 8 - Thanksgiving weekend.
There will be no SALT because it is the Thanksgiving long weekend
and we couldn’t have you be at SALT when you should be giving thanks!
October 15 - Sr. Bonnie Moser will be talking to us tonight
about prayer.
October 22 - Doris Keiser will address the
group on marriage and divorce.
October 29 - Potluck with Shine.
Newman club will be
hosting Shine (a UofA Christian group) for a potluck supper from 5:00
- 6:00 PM in the student lounge at St. Joe's. To be followed by a talk
from Fr. Stephen Penna in Ed-N 2-115 til 8:00.
November 5 - Jeff Brassard on Technology and your Faith
November 12 - Fall break - no SALT.
November 19 - Archbishop Thomas Collins - it's the
last weekend of the liturgical year, and His Grace will be sharing his
apocalyptic wisdom with us.
November 26 - Fr. Mike Trainer
