2014/2015 Executive Committee

President: Gavin Naicker

Hi All!

I am Gavin Naicker, a fourth year neuroscience student. This is my third year serving as an executive member! In previous years I have served to encourage the growth of our program here at UofA as VP Recruitment. My aims now are to bring our neuroscience community closer together both socially and academically.  Your peers not only make your university experience so much more exciting, but are also an invaluable resource! I also hope that the NSA will be able to work much more collaboratively with some of the amazing and different student groups our university has to offer. When I am not doing NSA stuff and obviously enjoying school, I am usually watching movies or anything half decent on TV. Also I can play a half decent Settlers of Catan game and an even worse badminton match.   If you have any questions concerning the NSA or would like to find out how to get more involved, feel free to email me at neuro@ualberta.ca.

VP Academic: Rahel Zewude

Hi Neuro students!

My name is Rahel Zewude. I am a third year student and I am excited to serve as your VP Academic for the 2014/2015 school year. I am here to provide academic support for you so feel free to email zewude@ualberta.ca with questions regarding your courses, how to get involved with research etc. During the year, I will be organizing events such as a lab tour and a career day so come to those events and make the best of your neuro experience.
When I have the luxury of not having to study, I enjoy reading novels, longboarding, running by the river valley, volunteering and attending social events. Making new friends is also one of my favourite hobbies so please come and say hi if you see me walking through the hallways. Wish you all a successful and enjoyable academic year!

VP Internal: Nikhil Malhotra

Hiyo Everyone,

My name is Nikhil Malhotra and I am currently a 2nd year Neuroscience student. I am thrilled to be serving as your VP Internal for the 2014/2015 academic year. I plan on increasing the efficiency of communications about our events to our executive and general members by updating the NSA website and using various platforms to reach to all the members.

When I am not busy with school and NSA, I enjoy watching movies, listening to music and doing some kind of physical activity. I am always open to meeting new people and feel free to introduce yourself if you spot me on campus. You can contact me with any questions you might have at nikhil1@ualberta.ca.  I wish you all a fantastic year ahead.

VP External: Matthew Krill

My name is Matthew Krill, a second year Neuroscience student. I am serving as the VP External this year, and am glad to be a part of the NSA. I plan on helping organize events and activities with other student groups, and also plan to organize a fundraising event for an external charity this year, on behalf of the NSA. When I'm not bogged down with school work I lead an active lifestyle, coaching competitive hockey as well as playing sports, jamming out on the piano or guitar, and hanging out with friends. If there are any questions I can answer for you, please feel free to contact me at krill@ualberta.ca. Wishing you a great year in Neuroscience.

Hey there!
My name is Iulia Craciun, and I’m currently in my fourth year of Neuroscience. Since this is my first year being involved with the NSA, serving as VP social will be the perfect opportunity for me to get to know my fellow neuro nerds. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone during this fun-filled year of great events being put together by our awesome executive team! From scavenger hunts, to ski trips, this academic year is guaranteed to have something for everyone. We’re also open to suggestions for any social events that you would like to see happen! Feel free to contact me at craciun@ualberta.ca; I’d love to hear your ideas, or answer any questions about this year’s social calendar. When school isn’t too hectic, I like to spend my spare time chilling out with friends, practicing yoga, or hitting the slopes. I also love traveling, biking, hiking and camping during the summer!
