MEMS Tunable Millimeterwave Filters Based on 3D Microfarbicaiton and Wafer-level Waveguides

The primary goal of this project is to realize new tunable monolithic 3D band-pass filters for high frequency with high performance. A new category of monolithic 3D waveguide has been already demonstrated on wafer by M2M research group. Based on this technology, design and realization of reconfigurable millimeter-wave components is the next goal to realize high Q tunable passive components. In this project, we are trying to develop the structure of 3D waveguide, design and fabricate a novel single/dual-band tunable bandpass filter using rectangular waveguide for the first time. In this design, we will use parallel coupling apertures inside the waveguide where we can change the aperture using MEMS switches and subsequently change and tune the resonant frequencies of both bands of the filter.
