The categories for the "Top Ten" videos/films were chosen last Friday for this year’s Misfit Short Film & Video Festival. First the more ordinary categories of the Bests for Directing, Editing, Screenplay, Cinematography, and Acting. Some of the more unusual categories for the videos/films include the Cheeziest, Most Gratuitous, Most Experimental, and the Best Foreign Entry. The still to be selected judges will be responsible for choosing the above categories. Two very special categories will be chosen independently of the judges. The first is to go before a popular vote with the audience at the event night for Best Picture. The second special category is the Misfit Award, to be chosen by U of A Film Zone members in the Planning Committee for the festival.

Awards for the categories will include trophies, plaques, gift certificates from sponsors, and other prizes.

Taking place at the Humanities Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton on Saturday, May 1^st at 7:30PM, the U of A Film Zone is proud to present this year’s Misfit Short Film & Video Festival.

Whether you’re a pro filmmaker or you’ve just learned how to turn on your camcorder, Misfit has categories and prizes for a diverse variety of films and videos. Before a panel of judges, the "Top Ten" entries will be selected to be screened at the festival night. There will be a wide range categories and a variety of prizes for the night. A 20-minute time limit on entries is imposed, but we hold no restrictions on content; this is Alberta's grown-up local film/video maker's festival. Entry deadline is April 21, 1999 before 4:00PM with a $4 entry fee.
