MisFit Short Film and Video Festival is rolling!
Project Committee formed for the event
The second annual MisFit Short Film and Video Festival is finally on a role. Just two weeks ago, executives at the U of A Film Zone commissioned the MisFit Project Committee composed of student members of Film Zone. This includes Project Manager James Elford (Arts I), Master of Ceremonies Mike Kroll (Arts IV) and Kate Sunderland (Arts II), Charlena Fong (Engineering III), Joanne Knysh (Arts II), Film Zone Executive Chester Sit (Computing Science III), and Film Zone Executive and Project Chair Gregory Pang (Business III).
This committee was formed because of the need for much increased organization as the Festival approaches. "Itll be a bit of a challenge with the semester winding up soon but I guess thats what makes it so fun. Its gonna be awesome Im totally excited about managing the [MisFit] Festival," said Elford.
Among other news for the Festival, the admission fee for the night has been changed from $2 to $3 in an attempt to increase revenues to cover the costs of the event. To make up for this however, entrants themselves will not have to pay for admission. Sponsor CJSR FM88 will be releasing the Festivals radio commercial on April 1, 1999.
A little about the MisFit Short Film and Video Festival:
Taking place at the Humanities Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton on Saturday, May 1st at 7:30PM, the U of A Film Zone is proud to present this years MisFit Short Film and Video Festival. Designed after, but sufficiently different from the Local Exposure (a part of Local Heroes) amateur video contest, MisFit is quite an expansion on the Local Exposure them encompassing greater aspects of short film/videos.
Whether youre a pro filmmaker or youve just learned how to turn on your camcorder, MisFit has categories and prizes for a diverse variety of films and videos. Before a panel of judges, the Top Ten entries will be selected to be screened at the Festival night. There will be a wide range categories and a variety of prizes for the night. A 20-minute time limit on entries is imposed, but we hold no restrictions on content; this is Alberta's grown-up local film/video maker's festival. Entry deadline is April 21, 1999 before 4:00PM with a $4 entry fee.
