Subject: Film Zone Press Release

The 2nd Annual MisFit Short Film Festival is on its way!

On March 26, 1999, Film Zone (a non-profit student club at the University of Alberta) is proud to present this year’s MisFit Short Film Festival.  Designed after, but sufficiently different from the Local Exposure amateur video contest, MisFit is quite an expansion on the Local Exposure them encompassing greater aspects of short film/videos.

The Film Festival is a night where amateur or professional video/film makers get to showcase their short movies before a large audience and a panel of judges.  The event, with a running time of about two hours, will be held on March 26 at the Tory Lecture Theatres (University of Alberta) at 8:00pm.  The judges, ahead of time, will select the top ten movies and prizes will be awarded that night, including the Audiences Favorites.  There will also be an intermission where directors, actors, cinematographers, media types, etc. will have a chance to mingle and enjoy the night.  For the short films/videos we will impose no restriction on content, a time limit is 20min, and we allow professional entries.  The fee for entrants will be $4 per movie entry and there will be a $2 admission charge at the door or in advance.

Currently, sponsors include Multimedia Communications Inc., CJSR Radio, The Movie Studio, and Roger’s Video.
