Attention: Mr. Bob Bouvier, President

Dear Bob,

It has recently come to our attention that recent events within your chapter in Edmonton may have negative implications for yourselves, name affiliates of E.C.M.A.S. in Calgary, and defamation untoward innocent hard working volunteers.

In particular:

  1.  Recent election of Mr. [Tim] Adams as a Director/ Vice-President of E.C.M.A.S. Edmonton. Mr. Adam’s background with repeat offences with prostitution and disbarment, and charging fees for legal advice to members (as a board member), seriously jeopardizes the credibility of the Society, the trust of its members and place the board and volunteers in a liable position.

2.    Involvement of certain E.C.M.A.S. member(s) with questionable views of child pornography and involvement in lead roles of decision, influence and support groups again seriously jeopardizes the credibility of the Society, the trust of its members and place the board and volunteers in a liable position.

[Mr. LaBerge avoids naming me in this letter. But his repeated parallel remarks on involvement in sex with minors, in contrast to an unnamed person's views regarding that sort of involvement including child pornography, make it clear that I am the one he is accusing. In later letters and media interviews, as we've already seen, he and his vice president did identify me by name. And after the Edmonton group rejected their demand regarding me, they carried out the threat below.]

As an affiliate of the E.C.M.A.S. trade name, we view these actions/decisions by your board to be in conflict with the guiding principles and policies of E.C.M.A.S. We believe it is totally inappropriate to have sex with minors and will not support individuals or groups who view or involve themselves to the contrary. [Clearly alleging "inappropriate" "views" of "sex with minors".]

Our recommendation is that E.C.M.A.S. (Edmonton)

  1. Demand the resignation of Mr. [Tim] Adams immediately

2.    Disassociate yourselves from persons who support views of child sexual involvement.

If your board does not act on these issues appropriately by 9:00 pm on Saturday, March 24, 2001, then the board of directors in Calgary will resign in its entirety and disassociate itself and ourselves from the E.C.M.A.S. trade name in accordance with Section 19 of the bylaws.      [Next]

On Behalf of the Board of Directors

E.C.M.A.S. (Calgary)

Michael A. LaBerge, President, E.C.M.A.S.(Calgary)
