Research Project: Effervescent Sprays
Effervescent atomization is based on injection of relatively small amount of gas into the liquid before exiting the atomizer nozzle . Pressure drop across the the nozzle results in sudden expansion of gas which disintegrats the liquid film into ligaments and droplets.


The effervescent atomizer which is shown in the above figure has successfully designed and built.

Shadowgraphy images from the water spray produced by the effervescent atomizer are shown in the below images. Nozzle diameter is 0.8mm.
