Research Interests: Robotics, Camera Acquisition
To save time and be more efficient, I created a general data acquisition program through CVI (written in C), enabling any user to grab images from Gig-Ethernet cameras. The code includes error handling, as it needed to be easily accessible for any user. For cameras with different ports, such as Camera-Link ports, I worked off of individual codes as the functions were very specific per camera. Along with creating programs for students to use with cameras, I was also tasked with ensuring each camera had a working computer to go with. There was a lot of time spent troubleshooting issues with drivers on computers, as well as the computers themselves.
Occasionally I helped students run their experiments, or assisted in setting up a computer and data acquisition system. At one point, I contributed to research involving an infrared camera in order to capture the temperature of a metal surface as it heats up due to high pressure coating. Experimental setup and data capture, although a long and repetitive process, brought me invaluable work experience.
