Two groups of ninth graders from St. Catherine Elementary/ Junior High School visited the lab as part of U School. Students in this program attend the University of Alberta for a full week experiencing the myriad of opportunities offered by the university.

Trevor and Emily presented posters at the Campus Alberta Neuroscience’s 5th Annual Symposium. The theme for this year is "Neuroscience Innovation for Improving Brain Health".

We welcome Dr. João Durigan from the University of Brasilia in Brazil. João is in Edmonton visiting us for a week to discuss plans for a future collaboration.

Trevor has won first place for poster presentation on Postdoctoral Fellows Association Research Day. The winning poster, entitled "Reducing fatigue of electrically evoked contractions after a spinal cord injury" was presented at the event organized by the University of Alberta Postdoctoral Fellows Association.

We are off to Neurohike! Trevor, Emily, John, Francisca and Dylan will be attending the Alberta Motor Control Association's annual "Neurohike". Trevor and John will be presenting their work and all will be networking with researchers from across North America.

We hosted two groups from the Shanghai International Studies University. The groups are here for a week long tour of the University of Alberta.

Another paper accepted! Matheus' manuscript, entitled "Interleaved neuromuscular electrical stimulation : motor unit recruitment overlap" has been accepted by Muscle and Nerve.

Dave, Emily, John, Francisca, and Trevor are in Chicago to attend XXI ISEK Congress! The International Society of Electrophysiology and Kinesiology hosts biannual conferences covering topics such as electrophysiology, movement analysis, posture & gait, rehabilitation, back evaluation, and EMG processing. Dave has been invited to present at a special symposium.

Paper Accepted! Our manuscript: "Interleaved neuromuscular electrical stimulation reduces muscle fatigue: Interleaved NMES" has been accepted by Muscle and Nerve. We commend the co-first authors, Jenny and Austin for their work on this project. The article will be published in an upcoming publication of Muscle & Nerve.

Francisca wins first place for a poster at the Rehabilitation Research Day held by the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Alberta. The poster explores "Interleaved neuromuscular electrical stimulation for the reduction of contraction-fatigue of the quadriceps muscles."

We welcome Sara Haring and Dylan Miller on their return to the lab. Sara will be here to write a manuscript on the findings from her research project. Dylan will lead the study and analysis of the behaviour of motor units. It will be a busy summer!

Congratulations Matheus! Matheus has successfully defendend his PhD Thesis. He will return to Brazil to continue his research as a postdoctoral fellow. Good luck Matheus!

We have been visited by a special class of first graders from the Waldorf Independent School of Edmonton! Despite their young age their love of science is clear.

Today we played host to the Kisipatnahk School from Ermineskin Cree Nation and St. Elizabeth Seton School! As always, "Muscle Music" is a hit for both groups and there was much fun and learning.

USchool is in session today! Two sessions were held with grade 5 students from St. Pius X and St. Francis of Assisi. The energy we witness from these groups is always impressive!

Our team will be joined by Trevor Barss as a postdoctoral fellow. He will be supported partially by a fellowship scholarship from the Campus Alberta Neuroscience and will conduct experiments here and at the University of Calgary.

Happy new year! We begin 2016 with a full lab. We welcome two new practicum students who will be with us this term to conduct their own research projects. Raisa Kassam and Sarah Rintoul will be a part of our lab this term as practicum students. Many projects are under way!
