Streams

Students in the program choose one of the two streams below.  In their first year in the program (their second year in the University), students fulfill the same requirements for both streams. In the next two years, they take a sequence of courses tailored to each stream—see
the Calendar here
 for details.

  Fintech

Today’s finance professionals face an unprecedented array of challenges. The scope for technology has become much wider, the data has become exponentially bigger, and the pace of making decisions has moved well beyond human response times. For many practitioners, the sheer variety, volume, and velocity of problems they face makes their jobs unmanageable without strong skills in computer systems and data management.

To help students thrive in such environments, the Fintech stream brings together traditional financial economics with newer tools from quantitative disciplines, adapted to the latest industry needs. Its focus is on analyzing real-world data, solving real-world problems, and learning how to identify and seize real-world opportunities. Students master everything they learn by implementing it on a large scale, with modern tools.

  Ventures

Developed economies cannot grow without forming new ventures, nurturing small outfits, or expanding the scale of established businesses. As a business grows from an idea to a viable enterprise, it goes through different phases, each with its own set of financial hurdles. Navigating these hurdles successfully requires mastery of a wide array of niche skills.

Drawing on the expertise of our faculty in several areas of corporate finance, the Ventures stream seamlessly integrates several specialties: private financing, venture capital, family business, and financial consulting. Through rigorous training, students acquire the skills required of leaders in modern financial stewardship.
