Abstract

MOL Report Six (2014/2015) compiles 14 papers and presents research on surface mine planning optimization and tailings management, simulation and optimization of mining systems, underground and block-cave production scheduling optimization, and software-related guidelines for mining applications. The volume highlights mathematical programming, simulation, stockpiling, block-cave scheduling, and decision-support methods for mining operations.

The report includes work on production scheduling with stockpiling, oil sands integrated mine planning and tailings management, open-pit operation optimization, reviews of optimization models and algorithms, block-cave scheduling and footprint calculation under grade uncertainty, and software interfaces for production scheduling and road network configuration. Together, the papers demonstrate MOL's continued emphasis on mine planning and design, simulation modeling of mining and industrial systems, and optimization.
