    This course focuses on systems modelling, transient response analysis and feedback control. The major topics include:
  • Theoretical modeling of processes
  • Laplace transform and transfer function
  • Dynamic response analysis of processes
  • Black box modeling of process
  • Feedback control, PID controller design and tuning
  • Closed-loop stability analysis
  • Frequency response analysis
  • Feedforward control, Cascade control, Time delay compensation


  • CHE 694 Advanced Optimization for Process Systems Engineernig
    This course introduces the mathematical optimization theory needed for process systems engineering including process control. The major topics include:
  • Review of optimization basics
  • Optimality conditions and duality
  • Linear and nonlinear continuous optimization
  • Linear and nonlinear mixed integer optimization
  • Optimization under uncertainty
