Technology Enhanced Learning Spaces Advisory Committee (TELSAC)

TERMS OF REFERENCE
(JANUARY 2006)

The Technology Enhanced Learning Spaces Advisory Committee (TELSAC) will be a standing sub-committee of the Faculty-based ICT Steering Committee. Its purpose is to advise, identify emerging technologies and set funding priorities for technology enhanced centrally supported learning spaces which include instructional labs, smart classrooms, video conferencing rooms, and technology enhanced study spaces on campus.

TERMS OF REFERENCE
In general the Committee will:
  1. advise Academic Information and Communications Technologies (AICT) on the life-cycling model(s) of technology enhanced learning spaces;
  2. recommend annual funding priorities to the Vice-Provost & Assoc. Vice-President (Information Technology) for major and minor upgrades to technology enhanced learning spaces consistent with the life-cycling model(s);
  3. advise on its on-going strategic planning for technology enhanced learning spaces;
  4. recommend annual funding priorities on the creation of new technology enhanced learning spaces as identified by way of the annual Facilities Alterations/Infrastructure Renewal Request process;
  5. recommend other policies, as may be required from time to time, relating to technology enhanced learning spaces (i.e., conflicting use, time booking, etc.).
  6. advise on technology and design considerations for optimum utilization of technology enhanced learning spaces
  7. Survey the needs of the constituents on a regular basis.

As required, at the call of the Chair.

CHAIR
Appointed by the Faculty Based ICT Steering Committee.

  • Faculty Representatives (4 or 5 to be approved by Faculty Based ICT Steering Committee)
  • AICT, (3 representatives: Executive Director and Associate Chief Information Officer, Director of Central Systems and Support and Labs Team Leader – total one vote)
  • Students' Union (1 representative)
  • Graduate Students' Association (1 representative)
  • Registrars Office (1 representative)
  • Libraries (1 representative)
  • Planning and Infrastructure (1 representative)

RESOURCE MEMBERS
The Committee may second other representatives as required.
