GOVERNANCE
TELSAC is an advisory body with representation from University of Alberta
Faculties and Service Units. Our function is to advise the Vice-Provost
and Associate Vice-President (Information Technology), Academic Information and
Communication Technologies (AICT), and the Faculty-Based ICT Advisory Committee
on matters of common concern pertaining to centrally supported instructional
labs, smart classrooms, video conferencing facilities and technology enhanced
study spaces on campus.
The governance of TELSAC is determined by the nature of the problem that needs
to be addressed. TELSAC functions as a forum for dialogue between the
Faculties and AICT. Problems of an operational nature are generally solved
with discussion. Problems that require funding for resolution however, are
vetted through the Faculty-Based ICT Advisory Committee. Typically a
motion is made before the Faculty-Based ICT Advisory Committee and it is either
carried or defeated based on University consensus. A list of our motions
to the Faculty-Based ICT Advisory Committee may be found here.
