Different Media Used For Sculpting
Sculpting is a very individual activity with little training required. The initial step is the most important which involves changing the medium to suit your needs. For example, when using clay, the clay must be first moistened and "wedged". Wedging involves throwing the clay on to a hard surface a number of times. This increases the clay's plasticity. On the other hand, a medium such as wire or play-doh needs no initial preparation before you can begin sculpting. You can just dive in! Every type of medium has a different series of steps, which is reflected by the material required. Since the medium types are limitless, we have chosen a few media based on our case studies to look at.
