SUMMARY
Pottery is a practical activity because the required materials are fairly inexpensive and readily available. It is an activity that can be modified to suit a wide range of disabilities, and clients of varying ages.
In Betty's case, pottery will be used to deal with her affective disorder. The activity will help her express her emotions and develop skills essential for productivity and leisure. In the case of Jane, her physical dysfunction is the primary focus. The activity is expected to enhance her range of motion and muscular endurance in the upper body. This will enable her to become productive and go back to normal everyday activities. For Toby, pottery will be a therapeutic medium to deal with physical and psychosocial deficit. It will help him increase the range of motion in his upper limbs, the function of his hands, as well as to improve his balance. His confidence will markedly improve being able to finish simple tasks and moving to greater complexity. We beleive the activity will be a useful medium for all three clients to gain independence in all areas of occupational performance.
