About SAMS
SAMS exists to promote the use of dispute resolution techniques other than litigation and to help University of Alberta students and low income members of the community use these techniques to resolve their civil disputes.
Mission Statement
The Mission of the Student Arbitration & Mediation Society (SAMS) is to provide mediation and arbitration training to university students, promote the use of mediation, arbitration and negotiation to resolve conflicts within the University and in the community and to provide mediation and arbitration services to university students and to low income persons from the community.
Vision
The Student Mediation and Arbitration Society will be a student group that provides quality alternative dispute resolution instruction and networking opportunities to students at the University of Alberta. This society will also provide these students an opportunity to offer mediation and arbitration services to members of the community, thereby allowing the students to gain experience to complement their academic training, and to provide a valuable service to the communities.
