Head of the North Saskatchewan – Novice boats convince on shortened course

The Head of the North Saskatchewan is a regatta hosted by the Edmonton Rowing Club on a biannual basis. The race is held on the UART’s homestretch of water from the Groat Road Bridge to the boathouse docks near the Edmonton Valley Zoo, thereby making a loop most of the way around Hawrelak Park. A long 4k against the flow of the mighty North Saskatchewan River, this race is a contest of will and stamina. In head racing, boats are set off in procession and the time of each crew recorded to determine the overall winner. Read More...

2008 Beijing Olympic Gold Medalist to Visit Our Athletes

The University of Alberta Rowing Team, Jasper Place High School and the Edmonton Rowing Club welcome 2008 Olympic gold medalist, Adam Kreek.

Adam rowed in the men's eight that captured not only gold, but also the heart of Canadians everywhere. Following their formidable racing, the crew moved us with their displays of emotion while proudly singing the National Anthem.

We are grateful to him for taking the time out of his busy schedule, while promoting youth rowing in partnership with Rowing Canada Aviron and iRow, to hang out with the UART, it's Learn to Row athletes and share his experiences over a drink.

Come join us at the RATT (Room At The Top, in the Student’s Union Building) on Tuesday, September 20th at 8pm to meet Adam in person!

U of A rowers support the Edmonton Rowing Club at annual Row for Kids Regatta

The Edmonton Rowing Club’s 6th annual corporate challenge fundraiser “Row for Kids” was held on Saturday, 10th September 2011, on Telford Lake (Leduc). The regatta invites corporate teams to race an eight oared rowing shell at a regatta over 750m. To prepare crews for this challenge, the Edmonton Rowing Club provides each team with 7 training sessions running throughout the summer. All participants are encouraged to fundraise while steeling their bodies and minds for the difficult side-by-side racing. The money raised through the event benefits the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation and the Edmonton Rowing Club. The original concept and current organization of the event is lead by PCL Construction Management Inc., in conjunction with Golder Associates. Read More...
