This week we will continue our discussion of the promise and challenges of global human rights.

For this week, listen to this file of an interview with Seyla Benhabib.  Benhabib, a political

theorist, discusses some of the puzzles related to univesal human rights in a moment of

globalization.  Reflect, in particular, on her discussion of statelessness, 'the rights to rights',

global rights in the context of nation-states and the question of universalism. Do you agree

with her description of the problem of borders?  How can universal human rights work in

a moment of the nation state?  Are we drifting to a borderless world?
