Erik Soderstrom:
I am currently pursuing my master's degree in metallurgy. My research
project is studying the effects of Carbon Dioxide shielding gas in GMAW.
In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors.
Erik joined the group in the
Fall of 2004.

Lee Davis:
A grizzled veteran of the primary metals industries specializing in the
creation and fabrication of solidification structures in semi-continuous
casting of aluminium. His PhD topic is on the interaction of complex aluminum
oxide films with the solidifying shell in the direct chill casting process.
Other interests include his family, alpine rock & ice climbing, and
music. Lee joined the group in the Spring of 2005.

John (Andy) Roubidoux:
Andy is working on scaling and modeling techniques with a focus on
Friction Stir Welding. Andy joined the group in the Summer of 2006.

Dave Tordonato:
David Tordonato attended
Virginia Tech and obtained bachelors and masters degrees in mechanical
engineering in 2002 and 2003. Following graduation, he went to work for
Tordonato Energy Consultants, a family business that specializes in providing
consulting services for the power generation industry such as boiler component
life assessment and failure analysis. He came to the Colorado School of
Mines in January 2005 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in metallurgical
engineering. Current research project involvement includes modeling phase
transformations in weld metal and designing welding consumables for high
strength pipeline steel. Other non-professional interests include outdoor
sports such as mountain and road cycling, hiking, rock climbing, kayaking
and skiing.

Ustun Duman:
Ustun is working on high velocity welding defects and penetration.
He joined the group in the Fall of 2006.
