Switching ABO Groups (Plasma)

The problem with switching ABO groups when transfusing plasma relates to the presence of anti-A or ant-B (or both) in donor plasma. If these antibodies are not totally diluted by the patients own plasma volume, they can sensitize the patient's red cells and hemolyse them via EVH and IVH.
